- ➤ South Bend Police said the Grandview Avenue crossing was closed Friday evening after a freight train hit an unoccupied vehicle while the driver waited for a tow—no injuries were reported and officials expect it to reopen in a few hours with the Meade Street crossing remaining open. ABC 57

- ➤ Amazon is hiring more than 1,000 full-time workers for its new 800-thousand square foot fulfillment center in Elkhart — offering starting wages over $19 an hour with benefits. The center will open in fall and is expected to boost local job opportunities. WSBT

- ➤ Health officials confirmed that mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been found in Clay Township and the county is treating stagnant water—using larvicides to reduce mosquito breeding.
