- ➤ South Bend police and St. Joseph County officers served a warrant at Laurel Woods Apartments on Monday, Aug. 25, where a suspect barricaded himself near St. Patrick’s Park, prompting SWAT to join at 11:30 a.m. and move in at 3 p.m.—apartments 601—615 were evacuated. South Bend Tribune

- ➤ Severe storms and floods disrupted BP’s Whiting Refinery as cleanup continues and gas prices jumped by over 10 cents a gallon in Indiana. Experts say if repairs go smoothly, prices may drop a few cents by Labor Day weekend — neighboring refineries will help bring in extra fuel. WSBT
